The octopus pot

The octopus pot

“This pot is about poverty. I used an octopus and its tentacles to put a strong statement across. I’ve chosen the tea pot and cups with saucers because their initial purpose is to serve tea. The tea pot represents the government with the empty glasses on saucers as people waiting to be served. In this scenario, the tea pot (government) which is meant to serve people is seized by the octopus. Each octopus tentacle represents a certain reason why the people (the cups) aren’t receiving anything because of corruption, war, or incompetent leaders.”

Art is a tool that we can use to express ourselves and transform our communities. “That’s my calling and the life I long to live” – Words & work by the artist Allan.
