Launching a career in International Development field

I had a talk with students from the Universities of Humanities and Social Sciences, Vietnam on launching a career in International Development field. NGO’s work comes with many myths: low salary, frequent travel, charity work, and so on. Some are true, but the majority are not. For my seven years of working and travelling in India, Tunisia, Cambodia, Uganda and Vietnam, I, in fact, found it interesting. If you could build up your grit, challenges will turn into your advantages. Also, it offers such precious lessons (often hard) about lives and oneself that one cannot deny. Having a career that follows your passion while not sacrificing your needs but being able to find a balance is not easy but possible. When you choose to pursue your heart, there will be no regret.
